These clogs are miniatures of a type commonly used by workers in textile mills in Lancashire, England. Since mill floors were usually covered with water the clog was more practical. Since life centered around the mill, clogs were made for the children so that they would match those of their father. These belonged to Joseph Robert Westwell, son of Mr. & Mrs. Edward Westwell, who was born Octover 8, 1878 Clayton-le-moors, Lancashire, England.
